Deb was born and raised in Connecticut. Enamored of horses and all animals from a very young age, she began riding horses at age 7. Now an accomplished equestrian, horses have always been an important part of her life and work. Her father was an avid photographer when she was growing up and his photographs of her as a young girl and the horses in her life are among her most cherished possessions. Her paternal grandmother was very artistic and created beautiful oil paintings. She feels their artistic influence today in her photography. She enjoyed photography as a hobby until the summer of 2005 when she decided to get serious about it and purchased a digital camera. Bringing her love of horses and passion for photography together has given her a new way of focusing on her relationship with the horse. She joined Equine Photographers Network, an online equine photography group in the fall of 2005. She has attended three of their equine photography workshops -- in California, Colorado, and the Catskills. Through EPNet she met Northern Exposure Gallery member Kathy Mathew and has been assisting her taking pictures at horse shows since 2006. Deb also enjoys photographing people, preferring candid photography using available light. "Photography is an artistic outlet for me. Photographs are our memories for the precious moments in our lives. I strive to capture a feeling or emotion in my photographs." Click here to see some of Debs's pictures |
