Kerry McCoy
 I first started with a small digital camera that could only take snapshots. Then when I bought a Kodak Easy-Share Z612 from my Aunt, that's when it all started. I would take pictures of friends, family and pets. I try to take more pictures of the outdoors, nature, animals, etc. Right now, I'm taking photography classes with Eric Dreeke. One just finished up at Northwestern CT Community College. There I learned the basics of my camera such as aperture and shutter. Now I'm just about done with the class that is through Tunxis Community College. This one is actually outside. We've been to places such as Topsmead Park in Litchfield, Hillstead Museum in Farmington, and the Collinsville Axe Factory where there's also waterfalls. Eric also mentioned about a dark room class which I will be taking in the near future which will be for black and white photography only. When I heard about Northern Exposure I couldn't wait to see what it was all about. The photos they had on display were miraculous! I got to know Karin Smith and she basically became my mentor. She's been so great with helping me learn what to do with my photos and what supplies I needed and things I can do to become a better photographer. I was previously in the show "Seasons" and was so glad that four of my photographs were on display at the gallery. The next show, "Photographer's Choice" I will be submitting two photos. I can't wait to see what the future holds for my photography career at the Northern Exposure Photographic Gallery. To me, my love of photography shows in my photos and lately it seems that I always have a camera around my neck and I'm looking through the lens and nowhere else. I'm always looking for something new to shoot! Remember, photography-it's about capturing that special moment in time and being able to keep it forever! Click here to see some of Kerry's pictures |
