SCHEDULE 2008

NORTHERN EXPOSURE PHOTOGRAPHIC GALLERY
Excellence in Fine Art Photography
413 Main Street (Railroad Square) above the Wish House Gift Shop
West Cornwall, Connecticut 06796 • 860-672-2969 (The Wish House) 860-927-3319 or 860-355-4275 (for Gallery Information)

Brad and Karin Smith and associates of the new Northern Exposure Photographic Gallery cordially invite you to visit our new location in West Cornwall, Connecticut. There we hope to continue to provide photographers a venue to create public awareness of Fine Art Photography through exhibition and publication. This includes the representation and sale of works on the Gallery’s Web site.

The wall space at the new Gallery allows for up to 7 exhibitors per show. Artist’s works will now be accepted by invitation. As themes of proposed shows are announced well in advance, there will be ample opportunity for artists to show their works. All artwork submitted is subject to a process of evaluation by the associates of Northern Exposure Gallery.

During the spring, summer, and fall seasons we will have available outside viewing spaces, on or near the Wish House lawn. This will enable us to plan for additional shows. These types of shows, commonly known as “clothesline art shows,” are a popular means to showcase diverse levels of artwork and are often associated with local fundraisers benefiting the community.

We hope to be able, once more, to combine creative efforts with local schools by offering young aspiring photographers an opportunity to exhibit in a gallery setting.

On behalf of Northern Exposure Gallery and its associates, Lazlo Gyorsok,
Deb Persson, Abby Ripley, Brad Smith, Karin Smith, and Victoria Beller-Smith, WELCOME!

EXHIBITOR FEES and SCHEDULES (for Gallery exhibits only)

Each Gallery Exhibit will run for two months.

The rental fee for an 10-foot-wide by 7-foot-high wall space per show is $175.00.

If the artist is willing to gallery sit, a reduced fee may be negotiated depending on the number of hours put in. (The minimum rental fee for
one wall space is $110.00)

Northern Exposure Gallery will pay for the design and cost of printing show invitations (post cards), postage for mailing, and all other promotional fees incurred for each new show, as well as for refreshments at every opening reception. Artists should submit their contact list of no more than 20 names for mailing out show invitations; e-mail contacts are preferable and unlimited.

Wall space available for consignment allows for up to 6-8 images, depending on size. We reserve the right to display images in such a way that would create an aesthetically pleasing viewing environment. Extra large, and/or panoramic images are accepted, but bear in mind that you are paying for a set footage of wall space (see above). If your work is oversized, you may wish to consider renting a double space or an additional half space.

Each artist may bring portfolio prints--up to 10--and/or 20 greeting cards reflective of their work to offer for sale at the gallery during the show.
The gallery will provide portfolio racks and card carousels.

Artists who are accepted for a particular exhibit with Northern Exposure Gallery will agree to show for the entire 2 months period. Shows are planned two to three months in advance. You must let us know if you cannot keep your contracted assignment, so we can fill your space. We will refund half of your entry fee.

The financial aspects of Northern Exposure Gallery will be conducted through Bianca Langner-Griggs and Richard Griggs, of The Wish House Gift Shop. A 30% commission on all sales generated by the gallery will be deducted.

The gallery is open Thursday through Sunday from 12 noon to 5:30 pm. On Thursday the Gallery is staffed by The Wish House. Gallery associates are available on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. If guest artists contribute sitting time, their fees can be reduced, as described above.

SHOW APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

The Gallery invites you to review our new show schedule and notify us as soon as possible if you are interested in exhibiting works related to one or more of the offered themes.

Applicable Gallery exhibits for this calendar year begin with TOWN and COUNTRY and conclude with PHOTOGRAPHER’S CHOICE (see schedule).

Summer Outdoor Exhibits will start June 14th-15th ending after the Labor Day weekend - view schedule listed on page 3.

When you contact us, stating your interest and choice of theme(s) for exhibiting, we would like to arrange a visit to show you the gallery space and at the same time to review your images. Actual or digital proofs are acceptable. (You may bring a CD.) This process allows us to plan for a cohesive show.

The Gallery will have available seven (7) sections of wall space for each featured show.

In the event more than 7 artists apply for the same show, the Gallery reserves the right to decide whose work to exhibit. As there are four show themes available, we suggest that you apply to exhibit in more than one show. In this way, you will be better assured of an exhibition space.
